This month has been full of fun. Joel turned 26 on May 3rd, Kaila turned 1 on May 6th and we got the keys to our first home on May 19th :) We went out with two good friends for Joel's birthday - checked out a new happy hour at the Thirsty Lion in Tigard - it was yummy! For Kaila's Birthday Joel and I both took the day off and we took her for a walk, to the pet store to pick out a new toy, and spoiled her :) We have really enjoyed having a dog and I hope she lives forever!!! Last Thursday we went over to the new casa and let Kaila walk around to see what she thought. She made a friend while she barked like crazy in the backyard :) I think we are really going to like Tualatin. Well, praise God for this awesome month and I can't wait to see what adventures come next :)

Kaila turns one tomorrow May 6th :) Since Kai was little she has LOVED swimming! Yesterday was a beautiful day so we took her for a walk! Kaila loves the river!

Easter Weekend :)

We spent Easter Weekend in La Grande this year. Our main reason for the visit was to meet our new Nephew - Ryder :) He was born April 20th, 8 lbs 4 oz. Ryder was such a good baby all weekend. I learned a few new things that weekend about giving birth. I'm not going to lie, some of them scary things - haha. Joel and Taylor spent alot of time together. Tay is 3 now and Joel just loves that age. As he would say - why can't they "come out" 3 years old - haha. Tay showed Unkie Joel how to cook in her kitchen, do some dance moves and sing songs all weekend. Tay just loves her Unkie Joel :)

Christmas 2010

Our Christmas was a very good one this year! We were super busy but on top of it all history was made - the Dearingnels were formed... this is a combo of the Dearingers and the Nelsons coming together to form the ultimate band. Jess about to pop at the seems (not really since she is due in April) Ryan and Julie, our promising guitar studs, John on the mic and either Me, Ashley, or Jess on the drums. Let me tell you, we rock ;) All in all this was a great Christmas...

Halloween 2010

Kaila spent her first Halloween in La Grande this year. I wanted to dress her up as a fairy and Joel wanted her to be a shark so we agreed to just have her wear a cute little pumpkin shirt and a pumpkin glitter bandana. Kai wanted to chase tay everywhere she went, but besides that, she did great all weekend. No accidents in the house, thank you Lord, and she was pretty well behaved. I think she had a great time with her cousin Taylor Ann :) Tay was the worlds most beautiful tinkerbell!!! Taylor dressed up as Tink this year and we had a blast spending time with Ryan, Jess and Tay for the weekend. We did a cool little trunk or treat at a local church, went to the annual "walk the streets of La Grande and get candy from the stores" event and Tay had a blast. Uncie Joel and Auntie Ashley love you big much skid ;)

Malibu 2010

Malibu was such an awesome trip this year! I was excited to see what the Lord would do in my ladies lives but I wasn't even thinking about the things He would do in mine! It was a week full of laughter, tears and intense bonding. The Lord showed me so much about myself and placed things on my heart that I need to adjust in my own life. I am so thankful to be a Young Life leader with this group of fabulous 16 year old girls! God is at work in our lives and it is such a blessing to see that!

We spent the weekend of the 4th at the coast and it was a rainy weekend! As you can tell by the pictures below the 3rd was a beautiful day and Kaila had her 1st beach experience. She loved the sand and of course digging in it. The 4th was a rainy day! We went to the Parade in the midst of showers and then down to the beach for some fireworks. It was all in all a fun weekend spent with family :)

Tonight is Kaila's 3rd night with her new mommy and daddy. As you can tell by the picture below Joel is the one that wakes up with her at night :) He is a tired boy tonight! Anyway, Kaila has caught on to the idea that when she goes pee pee or poo outside she gets a treat. So, after she goes she comes a running which is pretty funny. She has ony had one inside accident per day except today we had two :( that is by far the most frusterating thing. I am not sure the best way to potty train but I hope what we are doing with the stern no voice and then gets directly taken outside will work quickly. Any tricks of the trade I would love the advice! :)

Does P90X Work?

YES IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Good thing Joel never reads my blog or he would kill me :) But this is for our family to see his AWESOME results with P90X. Today we are at the 60 day mark so we took pictures to compare the change from day 1 and day 30. Look at Joel's crazy results... (Keep in mind he still has 30 days to go)... Such a stud :)

We had it down to these two girl puppies and the cute little dark one on the right won us over. Kaila is her name :) She comes home on Sunday the 27th of June! She is already a huge fan of Joel - she is calm and very loving! Can't wait!!!

Joel and I went and visited the puppies today and oh my heavens were they cute! They opened their eyes last week and they are walking but they fall down every couple of steps... TOO CUTE! We haven't picked out which one we want yet but we get 1st pick of the litter when the time comes - YEAH!

Our little daughter was born last night and we are going today to put our deposit down on her and visit! A Wedding and a Waterfall

I guess my blog is going to start with Sunday rather than Saturday due to me uploading the pictures wrong :) On sunday Joel, Me, Juile and Will (in spirit as you will see) went to Multnomah falls for a hike. The weather was perfect and we had a great time hanging out together!

Melanie and Daniel Finkle got married this last Saturday! It was a great wedding with a very classy service. John, Debbie and Julie came to Portland for the wedding so we got to hang out afterward which was very fun. Debbie was away chatting when the pictures were snapped so just imagine her in the one with Joel John and Julie :) After the wedding we had dinner as a family at Claim Jumpers.. YUM - we had awesome food. Not a huge fan of the calorie book that sits at the table informing you of what you just ate - but still a good time no doubt.

This past weekend was a double the fun event. We had Taylor's 2nd birthday on Saturday and Easter on Sunday. Taylor just loves Joel and I, which is so much fun. She liked our disney princess fort that we got her and her lawn mower bubble blower. The clothes she didn't care about but I think Jess liked them :) God has really worked in Joel and my hearts about kids through Taylor. Joel and I just moved from Tigard to West Linn. It has been an adventure these past three weeks at our new house but a fun one! We went from 1000 sq ft to 5000 sq ft. The Lord is awesome and the fact that He provided us with such a great opportunity shows that His plans are always better than what we can think up! Joel and I are looking forward to the task of fixing up the inside of this home with fresh paint during spring break! Yeah for finally having a garage and for only being 3 minutes away from my work. Life is great!

Mt. Hood 2010

After almost 3 years of being married Joel finally got me to go to the mountain with him. The last time I went skiing I was in Middle School! Well, I was out to impress... I didn't fall once and I was quite studly if I do say so myself... after impressing myself we came to a stop after the 2nd or 3rd run and Joel says..."You are pretty good, but did you used to ski a little faster?" Okay, so I may have taken the runs with caution but at least I was doing it. After my upper thighs started shaking as I was slicing down the hill I threw in the towel... But at least I lasted almost 3 hours. Haha - Good Times =)

Christmas in Hawaii

Debbie and John took the whole Nelson clan to Maui for Christmas this year and let me tell you... it was WONDERFUL. Minus the broken surf board and the four stitches, it all went well (Poor juju). Joel and I stayed an extra week after our family left with our good friend Pat. Living the local life for a few days made Joel crave to be one of them =) It was a blast - over 80 degrees each day! We sure enjoyed our White Christmas... The white sandy beaches of Hawaii that is =) Thanks John and Debbie - we love you!

Bitter Sweet

My Grandpa Lamb has been diagnosed with Cancer and one of his doctors thinks that the cancer has taken over many organs in his body. When he went to see a cancer specialist they did not think it looked "that bad." He goes in for surgery this THURSDAY to remove a large portion of his colon. Once they are inside they will be able to see how much the cancer has taken over. On my birthday weekend, August 15, we went to Lebanon to celebrate my grandparents wedding anniversary... something like 58 years!!!CRAZY!!! We all knew that this could be grandpa's last and that made it a bitter sweet event. I am heading to Lebanon to be with the fam this weekend and to go see grandpa in the hospital. I hope that anyone reading this might take a second a pray for him and that the Lord's will be done in his life. He is a Jesus lover so we all know he will be going to a better place someday... but I just want to be selfish and have that day be very far in the future! I will update more later.

Young Life ~ Malibu Camp 2009

I spent 9 days in Canada with some high school kids and it was a blast! God did AMAZING things during this week and I can't wait to support these kids as they learn what having a real relationship with Christ looks like. In my cabin I had girls that are all going into their Sophomore year... they are an awesome bunch of girls and I am so honored to have been their leader =)This camp was only the beginning and now I have one great Bible Study Group! GOD IS GOOD!

Just in case any of you haven't heard yet... MY HUSBAND IS A STUD! About a month ago Joel made me two flower boxes to go on my front steps. These lovely red boxed are full of Gerber Daisys now and it looks great. I am so thankful that Joel is such a handly man. Yes, this may have been an easy task but it was still awesome to have him make yet another thing for our home!

Spring Break

So I am not going to lie... I am feeling the baby fever. There are babies everywhere... My friends are having babies (Can't wait to meet little baby Jane) My co-workers are having babies. And, my niece is the cutest baby ever... I want one =) ok ok... Don't panic Joel. hahaha. I want one, but I know I am not ready yet. A couple more years for us. But I am just such a baby lover! So, the excitement of my month is our Spring Break trip to see Ryan, Jess and Taylor. I will get to play with Taylor for a few days and decrease my baby fever =) We are heading out to Utah on Wednesday and it will be a long drive, but well worth it! Can't wait to see you guys!

So I am excited to say I will no longer be working at Umpqua Bank. I am the newest secretary for West Linn High School. YEAH!!!!! I am not going to miss dealing with rich cranky people wanting a better interest rate on their CD. Yet, I will miss my co-workers. I love the team at Umpqua but I have decided that I was not meant to be a banker, I am on this earth to be an educator! So anyway, God is good and I know that he is going to use me in great ways with these high school students! My first day of school is Tuesday! =)

This weekend was a lot of fun for Joel. He got to camp and spend the whole weekend at the beach. I on the other hand enjoyed watching him surf but to say it lightly, I am NOT a camper. There were tons of bugs and it was not the best time ever. On Saturday a bit of an ordeal happened to me. Joel and I were out in a a kayak playing in the river when his friends arrived with their big dogs. (If you know me well you know I am scared of dogs) so continuing on... the dogs started swimming towards our boat so Joel paddled away as we knew the kayak would tip if the dog reached us. So, I freaked out and asked Joel to paddle me to the dock so I could jump out before the dog tipped us. Well to make a long story short, the dog beat me to the dock so I got scared jumped back into the kayak which made it tip over... my head slammed against the boat while by arms hit the dock with crazy force... then the icing on the cake, the 75 pound dog jumped on top of me while I was in complete freak out mode trying to get my head above the water. Yes, this event sounds funny, but it completly ruined my camping trip.

Moving Life

So I don't have any new pictures to post yet but I am working on it. I have decided that moving sucks and I don't want to do it again. Joel was great at packing it all up but the whole unpacking part is not his cup of tea. All I want is for my curtains to get hung up but no, he can think of 10 other things that need to be done first (he says while he plays on the computer) Ah man, you got to love the way that guys think =) This weekend I hope to get my house unpacked so it can finally feel like home! Well, I will post pictures of our new casa when I get it put together =)

We had a great time in Maui. We spent ten days in a fun little condo in Keihi that Joel's parents got for us as our wedding present, we are way blessed with great parents! There was only one day of rain the whole time we were there, 9 out of 10 days is pretty good luck.

Our wedding day was perfect! The weather was great and we all had a blast. It was great to have so much support from all our friends and family members!
